This past month we did some old school RVing, which just means we had no cell service or wifi. 😉

For the most part it was a refreshing change. Unplugging is always good for the soul. 💕

We had so many amazing moments exploring the Pacific Coast from southern Washington into California.

Wet & muddy & totally worth it!

This short dog and kid friendly hike to Fishhawk Falls was the perfect way to end our rainy day of sightseeing adventures here on the Oregon coast.

We’re loving everything the northern coast has to offer. Even the rain can’t keep us from a fun filled day of exploring.

Wreck of the Peter Iredale

It’s not often you can get up close to the remains of a shipwreck over 100 years old.

Although a solemn reminder of the dangers of a life spent at sea, it was still incredible to stand in what was once the bow of the Peter Iredale.

When in Seattle be sure to visit Snoqualmie Falls, about 30 minutes outside the city.

This is a popular tourist destination and for good reason. 📸

The falls are beautiful and there is a scenic, easy hike through the park with rewarding views at the bottom.

Nothing disappointing about these views. 😍

There is something so majestic to me about a lighthouse. I often find myself imagining what life as an lighthouse keeper was like before modern technology. I think about the drama, intrigue, and beauty of a protector and keeper of hope.

Speaking of beauty, add coastal Washington to your travel bucket list. The Long Beach Peninsula is beautiful, and had me just a tad homesick for my hometown on Cape Cod.

Checking off Lucas's bucket list. 🏆

Lucas's LOVES race cars so when I saw this go kart track in Long Beach I knew we had to take him for his first spin around a race track.

I just love the look on his face in this pic as they sped around the turns. He looked unsure at first but he was all smiles by the end. He had his own steering wheel and was so happy he got to "drive" the car.

There's something special about the moments where you get to give your child an experience that lives so vividly in his imagination.

I used to stress when we went off the grid.

Then I realized that disconnecting with the outside world gave me more energy to focus on reconnecting with myself and my family.

Now I embrace spotty cell service and zero wifi because really it’s pretty hard to care with a front yard like this. 😍

Forgetting to take pictures. 📸

I’ve noticed lately that’s a sign that we’ve had an especially good time.

We’ve been fortunate these last few months to have some family and friends fly out to visit us from Massachusetts.

Once they’ve left I realize I have tons of pictures of the kids and not many of my usual “travel” pics.

Our changing landscape becomes the backdrop of amazing memories with friends or family we miss a lot, and I’m loving it.

The hardest part of our nomadic lifestyle for us is not seeing the people we love very often. But building these memories together as a family is worth it.

Sharing a rare family photo that that is not a selfie. 😁

These were the OG Fulltime RVers.

The gypsy in me was excited to visit the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. Although the museum was closed the ranger talk was full of interesting information.

As I listened to the ranger describe the conditions that led these travellers to cross the country in search of a new type of life I couldn't help but think of the growing number of fulltime RVers like us, who have left their traditional homes in search of something out of the ordinary.

No matter how much the world changes there is something in the human spirit that stirs many of us to push forward into the unknown.

I've never been able to pinpoint exactly what it is, or even how to explain it to someone who doesn't feel the same. All I know is that it's been with me throughout my life, and I'm happy to be part of a growing tribe who feels the same. ✨

Art installations with a cause. 📣

When we saw these incredible pieces (and more) scattered throughout Baker City I immediately wanted to learn more.

These pieces from global artists in disadvantaged communities are the result of efforts by @artroamers. Founded by fellow travellers who were determined to make a difference when they met artists struggling to feed their families.

I love their mission and encourage you to check out their website to explore the jewelry, wall art, scultpures and more currated to support the artists and communities who don't have a voice to promote themselves.

🚐 New state alert 🚐

Wouldn't it be fun if we could announce even mundane changes in life with photo opps in front of murals?

Or maybe we're the only ones willing to make copious u-turns for a basic photo opp. 🤷‍♀️

Either way, as much fun as we had in Idaho (we will be back!) I am so excited to finally visit Oregon over the next 6 weeks.

We weren't going to stop here, it wasn't the plan. And I was having a "stick to the plan" kind of day. Thoughts of my to do list and prepping for our travel day the following day were weighing heavy on my mind when John asked if I wanted to make one last stop.

My answer was "no, I do not!" Buuuuttt we've been together long enough that I knew he'd wish we had made the effort, and how could I refuse him and his curiousity?

Turns out this little stop I did not want to make was the best part of my day. We had so much fun hiking through the river and really had fun doing nothing at all.

Who would have known? 😝

This is your reminder not to turn down that unexpected invitation, it just might lead you on your best adventure yet.

PS saying "yes" to an invite when I really wanted to say "no" was also how I met John...need I say more? 🥰

Although more of a roadside stop than a hike we were still happy to track down these falls on our trek through Southern Idaho.

Off the beaten path in Idaho.

Mammoth Cave claims to be the largest public volcanic cave in the world. To visit, you'll need to buy a ticket to explore the cave and the adjacent Natural History Museum.

This cave was the perfect activity on a very hot day. If you're into natural history then you'll definitely want to check out the museum's ecclectic exhibit of everything from taxidermy to local artifacts.

💚 One of our favorite hikes 💚

We were lucky enough to have this whole place to ourselves.

Auger Falls was an easy loop with opportunities to climb down the rocks to the edge of the river and some of the falls.

The river was so wild I kept thinking we were by the sea. And we couldn't get enough of these waterfalls.

The best part is that this hike is dog friendly, so the whole family could enjoy the fresh air.
